Only 20 days are left until defense of my thesis in June, 2000. Should I be more confident about this instrument?

Piece of ice from Gulf of Finland, thickness is about 32 cm and ice is rather porous, as spring warming is started already (1st March, 2002) (photo by T.Kõuts)

4 July, 2005- wonderful day for satellite data validation, however- image was not aquired…
It is how surface of the Baltic sea looks when cyanobacteria (toxic Nodularia spumigena and potentially toxic Anabaena spp) blooms, 4 July, 2005.

Gleotrichia echinulata, a blue green algae, is present in the Lake Peipsi and form a whitish sphere-like structure. If blooms are robust and extend over time, it may be concentrated by wind and water currents (photo taken 18 August, 2005).

Actually we want to measure water leaving radiance, hided behind sun glint, shadows and foam…

Our small launch is rather overpopulated, so you can see only Liisa making notes. However it is the only way to study shallow regions Lake Peipsi.

Trip on 18 August, 2005 was the first field expedition for Kristi. She survived and now continues her study as master-student in Tartu University. |
