The spectra of symbiotic novae (AG Peg, RR Tel, etc) in different phases are interpreted by models which account consistently for the photoionizing flux from the hot star and for the shocks. The SUMA code is adopted. The consistent fit of observed line and continuum spectra by model calculations provides precious informations about the physical conditions of the emitting nebulae throughout the evolution of the system.
